Staycation: Roslin Beach Hotel, Southend-on-Sea

It seems to be more and more popular to take a “Stay-Cay” these days, more people are planning trips in and around the UK instead of travelling abroad for a holiday. I must say, as much as I love travelling, there is something really fun about visiting a different spot in your own country and exploring there. That’s where Roslin Beach Hotel comes in to the mix, I recently took my mum for afternoon tea and sleep over there and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

Roslin Beach Hotel is located in Southend-on-Sea, about a 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from London or a 50 minute train journey from London Fenchurch Street. It is a family run business, who were awarded the AA ** Rosette from the Culinary Excellence Scheme for 2019. Discover the With 62 rooms to choose from, an Elemis spa and delicious dining options, this little sea side retreat is a little piece of paradise to be honest and a place definitely worth visiting this year.

The weather we had when we visited was grim, but hey we are in the UK after all, but having said that, it was still the perfect get away. I am already looking forward to visiting again, but in the Summer so I can truly explore the pier and the nearby towns.

The decor in the hotel is divine, with cosy corners, and pops of colour all over, this place couldn’t have been more suited to me. There is a really homely feel to the rooms at Roslin Beach Hotel, a very picturesque place to take some time out from the day job and relax.

The afternoon tea has options to suit all dietary needs also, from vegan to gluten free, there is something for everyone at Roslin Beach Hotel. The afternoon tea room overlooks the sea with its toy looking boats rocking back and fourth, a typically British sea side view makes it all the more adorable whilst enjoying the freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam (that’s the order I make mine in). The sandwiches, scones and cakes were absolutely delicious, it was a real melt in your mouth type of situation.

It’s going to sound like my mum and I are really boring now, but after our afternoon tea and because the weather was so bad (cheers Storm Jorge), we got tucked up in bed by 4pm with a bottle of wine (yes I know its early haha), the bed was VERY comfy by the way. We popped a movie on and stayed there all night, only getting up to bathe in the roll top bath, change into our PJs and order room service. Now that’s what I call a proper girly sleepover!

I really could not recommend Roslin Beach Hotel enough, either for a girly weekend with a friend or family member, as a couples retreat, or even just to pop in for afternoon tea or a spa treatment. For you dog lovers, you’ll be pleased to know, the hotel is dog friendly, and they’re able to supply a dog bed, feeding bowls and even treats.

Check it out, and let me know what you think, and of course if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
