W Dubai, The Palm

W Dubai - The Palm, where do I start?

Vibrant and full of energy throughout, this place is the perfect hot spot to visit whilst in Dubai. W Dubai -The Palm has a private beach area, an outdoor swimming pool for both adults and children and all areas have free WiFi access (because trust me, you'll want to be instagramming this)!

We (my fiancé and I) were invited for a full day to experience just what W Dubai had to offer. The entrance itself was something else, it’s rainbow coloured strobe lights as you pull up at the entrance are nothing but outstanding, W Dubai have created an immediate buzz as you step out of the car and are greeted by the friendly door staff. (Insta worthy already).

On entering I was blown away with the explosions of colour coming from all over the hotel lobby and the attention to detail was phenomenal, W Dubai have not missed a trick in the making of this place that’s for sure. We headed to the adult only pool area, with private poolside cabanas and swim up bar, however the pool friendly for all ages has it’s very own private egg beds to lay and enjoy the surroundings from. With it being 42 degrees Celsius I was straight to the bathroom to whip my dress off and chuck on my bikini…side note, take your phone to the pool bathrooms, they are instagram gold, a mirror which says “I WOKE UP LIKE THIS” is just asking for a selfie no?!

The service around the pool or as W Dubai called it “Wet Deck” was outstanding, which is so refreshing to say, however the majority of customer service in Dubai is next to none! Our waiter for the day at “Wet Deck” was from Uganda, and he couldn’t have been more accommodating with drinks and mocktail orders throughout our hot and sweaty poolside day, it was 5* service, and he was the loveliest guy to speak to and get to know. His story and how he came to be working in Dubai was moving, and I sincerely wish him all the best for his future plans. What a dude, massive shout out to Cyrus! Now let’s not forget the giant flamingo floaty either, it would have been rude not to jump in for a picture right?! This is probably the Dubai’s most instagrammed floaty!

For lunch, we dined in Torno Subito, the first restaurant opened outside of his Italian restaurants by Michelin star chef Massimo Bottura. The decor, the food and again, the service was FAB! I highly recommend the freshly made pasta (nom nom). You’ll also want to take your phone to the bathroom here for a selfie, the pastel colours are VERY instagrammable! Even if you’re not staying at W Dubai, you need to at-least make a reservation for lunch or dinner here, it will be worth it to fill your belly and your camera roll, I can vouch for both!

Needing to walk off our scrumptious lunch, in fear of falling into a food coma, we strolled along W Dubai’s private beach. Provided with bottled water from beach staff and fresh towels, we started dipping our toes in the sand, only to find a tonne of blue jellyfish washed up on the shores surface, but fear not, these blue one’s do NOT sting. There I was telling passers by “be careful, there’s a lot of jellys along here” to find out from the life guard you can pick these babies up and chuck them back into the water to save them! (I know right, my very own little squishy, and he shall be mine…Finding Nemo fans, you know the rest). Swimming in the sea here was like being in a bathtub, the water was so warm I couldn’t believe it! Beware though, it turns out there are also the occasional brown jelly that DO sting, to which my fiancé soon found out (bad squishy), to the rescue was the life guard with his bottle of vinegar to alleviate the pain, so even if you do take a warm dip and find yourself in this situation, be rest assured the staff here are quick to help out, that is of course unless you fancy peeing on yourself ;)

We watched the sun set on the beach to finish what I’d call a perfect day!

Until next time folks,

Alex x
